Don't miss out on the blessings of service! At St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, we encourage everyone to be active in parish life. Our ministries offer many opportunities to get involved, enjoy fellowship, and deepen your relationship with God.
Please note that anyone who wishes to volunteer for the church in any capacity must be a Registered Parishioner, and complete Diocesan Adult Safe Envinroment Awareness Sessions. Please contact Alexis Campbell for more information.
Here at St. Martin de Porres, we encourage EVERYONE to be active in parish life! Live out your baptismal call by putting faith into action! Jesus’ sacrifice was a sign of his gratitude, praise and trust in God. Offering of a portion of our time and talent is also a sign of giving the whole of our lives to God. Our ministries offer opportunities to get involved, enjoy fellowship, and deepen your own, personal relationship with God.
Evangelization and Catechesis (Adult Faith Formation and Family Life)
Do you desire to share your faith with others and have a heart to serve your parish community? Consider being a part of our growing catechetical teams at SMdP! We are looking for help in all catechetical ministries: RCIA (Adults), RCIA adapted for children (grades 3-8), RCIA adapted for Teens (High School), Family Faith Formation, Sacrament Preparation for 1st Reconciliation/1st Eucharist and Confirmation, Marriage Ministry, Baptism Preparation, and much more!
Do you have some spare time during the weekday on a regular basis and love to organize? Consider becoming an office volunteer for Faith Formation! Administrative help is needed during the weekly parish office hours.
Altar Servers
All boys and girls who have received First Communion are invited to serve at the altar.
Art and Environment
Creating an atmosphere within the liturgical space that invites and inspires parishioners to full and conscious participation in the paschal mystery is so important! This group is involved with the preparation of the church for each liturgical season, and invites those who are gifted in the visual arts to bring their talents to the service of the liturgy.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist by the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine. You must be at least 18 years of age, in good standing with the church, and have received the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
Homebound Ministry (facilities and home visits)
We make an effort to stay connected with those parishioners who are not able to join us as mass due to illness or other incapacities so they know they are not forgotten. This ministry is split into two groups - those who wish to visit facilities on Thursday mornings at 9:30 AM, and Sundays at 10:30 AM, and those who visit in people’s homes.
Lectors
Lectors are people of faith who have nurtured a relationship with God, and have formed their lives based on the gospel. This is the Lector's mission; To proclaim the Word of God.
Music
Music ministers including choir members, cantors, and instrumentalists help “make a joyful noise to the Lord!”. If you are interested in joining our music ministry, please see Joe Davisson after Mass, or send him a note, joe@saintmartindp.org.
Prayer Warriors
This ministry provides an opportunity to help those who are in need of our prayers. Our prayer warriors intercede for these individuals by taking time to pray for them. All prayer requests are treated with the utmost confidentiality. To join our Prayer Warriors, please send a note to prayers@saintmartindp.org.
Sacristans
Sacristans arrive at least 45 minutes prior to mass prepare liturgical vessels, books, bread and wine, and all other materials necessary for the liturgy.
Ushers
These friendly folks welcome those joining in celebration at each mass, help those arriving to find seats, and take up the collection during mass. They also help dismiss rows for Holy Communion and hand out bulletins as parishioners leave.
