Baptism is the first sacrament all Christians receive and is the first step towards full membership in the body of Christ. Through Baptism we are freed from sin, become children of God and members of the body of Christ, and become sharers in the Gospel mission. The next baptism class is TBD.  Please register by completing the form below. For planning and sacramental documentation purposes, registration will close the Friday before the class is offered.

Classes are intended for Parents only, there is no childcare available. Parents may bring nursing infants and children under the age of 1 to this class. Please note that this class is intended for parents and Godparents who wish to have their child baptized at St. Martin de Porres. If you are a member of another Catholic parish, or live outside of the parish boundaries, please contact the parish office at 469-287-7624 prior to completing the form below.

Parents:

• Must identify as parishioners by living within Parish Boundaries (as set by the Diocese of Fort Worth).
• At least one parent must be Catholic.
• Must attend an approved Baptism Preparation class at SMdP, usually within 3 years prior to desired Baptism date. If class was not taken at St. Martin de Porres, you may be asked to complete the class at SMdP.  

To baptize at SMdP, please complete the following:

1. Step one: Complete the Baptism Information Form (this is also where you also register for a Baptism class.  If you have taken a Parent Baptism Class elsewhere, please contact the parish office prior to completing this form)
   • Please ensure you have a copy of the child’s birth certificate to upload to the Baptism information form.  This birth certificate must be a complete copy, and readable. Please respect the time of our staff and only upload the appropriate documents)
2. Step two: Select Godparents who are practicing Catholics, who are strong witnesses of the Catholic faith.  Please visit this page for more information on Godparent requirements.  If either or both are married, they must be married in the Catholic Church. Ask them to complete the Certificate to Serve as Godparents (one side completed by them, the other by their pastor).  This form is found on this page   
   • If you need assistance in finding Godparents, please contact the parish office 
3. Step three: Attend the Baptism class that you signed up for
4. Step four:  Ensure all your paperwork (including the paperwork for the Godparents) has been completed and turned into the parish office.  When all paperwork has been received by the parish office, you will be contacted to set up a meeting to go over everything received and set a date of Baptism at that time.

Please note that a scheduled Baptism date will not be given until all information is received and families are prepared.  As all sacrament preparation is readiness-based at our parish, families requesting Baptism will also be contacted for an interview.

Children who are above the age of 7 are considered to have reached the age of reason, and will begin the process of OCIA Adapted for Children.
